5 Useful Suhoor Foods

Yes, it’s that time of the year. So, here’s a few foods you should consider eating for sehri time if you want to feel fuller for longer!

Suhoor Tips

Ramadan - a time when everyone panics because they think they will lose all their progress.  In actuality, it's not as bad as you think.  It mainly comes down to food really.

So, here’s a few foods you should consider eating for sehri time if you want to feel fuller for longer!

1.  Whole Eggs.  Makes sense, right? Eggs are high in protein, have good fats them and are quite filling.  The best part about it, they digest slowly in your body and it takes time for your body to process them. Eat the whole egg and don’t worry if you have 2-3 eggs.  If cholesterol is already an issue for you, then your GP will already tell you about what foods to keep an eye on.  But if you don’t have any issues, eating more than 1 egg is totally fine.

2.  Porridge.  Slow acting in the body, has fibre in it which again slows digestion and overall a great choice.  Make it even better by adding some seeds to it or even a tbsp of peanut butter.  Another amazing combination.

3.  Bran flakes.  Not feeling oats? No worries. Sprinkle some sweetener over your bran flakes and add some milk.  Another awesome carbohydrate source that takes time for the body to break down.

4.  Avocado/Peanut Butter on toast.  Again, nice and easy to prepare.  Avocado, an amazing fat source on top of carbohydrate source.  Another awesome combination. To add some protein to it, have a few tablespoons of Greek yoghurt at the side.

5.  Low Fat Cottage Cheese.  My personal favourite.  Don’t knock it if you’ve not tried it.  95% of people I know who have never tried it knocked it big time.  What happened when they tried it? Well they’ve been having it ever since! It tastes pretty decent and boasts an extremely high protein content.  So if protein is your concern, which it should be for most people anyway, then nothing beats cottage cheese.  It’s a form of slow-acting protein, meaning it drip feeds your body over a longer duration.  Very cheap too!

Give some of these a go guys and you won’t be feeling as hungry the following day!
